SCQF Level 7 PDA in Health and Social Care (Supervision)
Part Time Day

This course comprises two Higher National units; Health and Social Care; and Supervise People and Supervise the Protection of People. The units are assessed in the form of an essay at the end of the programme.


This course is designed to meet the requirements of the Scottish Social Services Council. This course is designed as Continuous Professional Development for employees in a first line management role who provide support and supervisions to other staff or to meet the needs of those Carers working in a supervisory role. It meets the needs for additional SCQF points at SCQF level 7 for registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).


Candidates for this award should have effective communication and inter-personal skills. These skills should be used to give an account of the candidate’s experiences, enable them to reflect on these experiences and make valid conclusions. Candidates should be able to express strengths and development needs both personal and organisational.


Qualification Gained: Qualification gained through this course is a PDA in Health & Social Care Supervision SCQF Level 7.

Entry Requirements: The entry requirement for this course is an SVQ Health & Social Care Level 3 or equivalent.

Duration of this course:
The duration of this course is approximately 12 weeks. Delivery of the qualification includes self study, workplace study and off-the-job training. Candidates must be involved in the supervision of others in a social service setting. Candidates are required to operate effectively under direction, to analyse and reflect on this experience and be able to make conclusions about their ongoing learning and development.
