4 Day Course

This is a four day course, which consists of five modules delivered over those four days; Safe Moving & Handling (Objects), Safe Working at Height, Health & Safety, Fire Safety and Emergency First Aid at Work.

This course would be beneficial for anyone working or wishing to work in warehousing, it would give them an insight and taster of what to expect.

The course runs for four consecutive days from 09:00-17:00 Monday to Friday. The aim of the course is to give the client an overall general knowledge safe working in a warehousing environment.

Entry Requirements: There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

Qualification Gained: The qualification gained from this course is a HSC Futures Certificate.

Course Breakdown:
DAY 1 SAFE MOVING & HANDLING (OBJECTS)

This 1 day course is designed to highlight the problems associated with incorrect manual handling. It aims to identify the requirements to employees of the Manual Handling Operations 1992 and the Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1992 (risk assessment). This course is to train staff in the safest aspects of moving and handling in the work place and to understand the risks to themselves. Candidates should include anyone who carries out manual handling tasks as part of their work role. There is a multiple choice assessment at the end of the course.

DAY 2 – SAFE WORKING AT HEIGHT

This module covers what can go wrong while working at heights, general requirements of Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, regulations and guidance relating to working at heights, means of access; ladders, stepladders and trestles, general access scaffolds, scaffold towers, suspended cradles, mast-elevated work platforms, power-operated work platforms, personal suspension of equipment, risk assessments/work planning/safe systems of work.

DAY 3 (AM) HEALTH & SAFETY

This 3 hour course aimed at those wishing to have a general insight on general workplace health & safety. It will give you the knowledge you need to understand risks and how to control and act upon any likely hazards present in your workplace. It will give you an introduction to general workplace health & safety, roles and responsibilities for health, safety and welfare at work, risk assessments and how they contribute to health and safety, how to identify and control risks from common workplace hazards, processes and procedures for responding to accidents and incidents at work. There is a multiple choice assessment at the end of the course.

DAY 3 (PM) FIRE SAFETY

This 3 hour course ensures candidates have an understanding of fire safety. The course allows candidates to receive the necessary training in fire safety so they have the knowledge to act safely and responsibly should the need arise. It covers the nature of Fire, Fire hazards and risk, Fire Prevention at work, Local Fire procedures and How to select and use a portable fire extinguisher safely. There is a multiple choice assessment at the end of the course.

DAY 4 EFAW

This one day module is an abbreviated First Aid Course covering the most important situations and injuries. The course is aimed at anyone who works in a job role which requires a first aid qualification or someone who just wishes to be generally qualified in the area of First Aid. It covers roles and responsibilities of an emergency first aider, assessing an incident, managing an unresponsive casualty, CPR and AED use, Recovery Position, Choking, Seizures, Shock, Wounds and bleeding, Minor Injuries including cuts and grazes, minor burns and scalds. There is a set multiple choice examination (Qualsafe Awards) at the end of this session.
